no politics [no-politics] What's happening this weekend? 04/Feb/2023

Now we're done with the Friday venting, what's good in life? Got a new job? Have a date? Going out to a socially distanced restaurant? Climbing, sailing, riding or just working up a hard-earned thirst?

no politics Are we allowed to break off bananas from a bunch at supermarkets to only buy one or two?

Stupid question but can we break off bananas from a bunch? One bunch is usually too much for me and sometimes I just want one

no politics Fun fact: Once you pass 38 years 5 months old, there are more people younger than you than those older.

If this is you, welcome to the older half of the population.

Australian median age: 38.4

no politics Qantas' decline is atronomical

1.3k Upvotes

It is dumbfounding how bad Qantas' had become in every aspect of the airline game.

From their booking system, flight experience to customer service, this once great Australian company has crumbled to disastrous lows.

I'd love to hear some of your horrendous experiences to confirm that I'm not alone in this observation.

no politics What happened to Byron bay?!

1.1k Upvotes

Am I the only one who feels Byron bay is no longer worth going to?

It's lost it's charm and has become another beach suburb that's overpriced. With every visit, I question what I'm doing there..

For a similar amount of holiday money I can easily go overseas and have a blast with far superior service and food..

Edit: spelling correction

no politics Did exchange in the US and lots of guys ran shirtless there. Is that as acceptable here?

Feels like every second guy there went for runs without a top on. I got around it too and it felt so liberating, but feels like shirtless runs back home are less common — still acceptable though? Anyone here run shirtless?

no politics Thank you all for the chicken salt recommendation

It was an absolute revelation, immediately perked up fries and a couple other snacks, amazing on popcorn. I ordered a (surprisingly expensive) shaker of the stuff, waited for the slow shipping…. and it was absolutely worth it.

I believe “good on ya” is the thing to say here.

If anyone wants to toss out recommendations I’d love to hear it. I think I’ve heard you all don’t use a lot of peanut butter, so here’s a recommendation - peanut butter and whipped honey sandwich on toast.

Sincerely, a bored American after a few glasses of scotch :)
